De Mazenod Door Outreach
This partnership will have significant positive impacts for De Mazenod Door Outreach, and the guests we serve breakfast and lunch to every day, 365 days a year. Having a three-year commitment, for 2024, 2025 and 2026, allows our charity to plan our budget and to allocate the $25,000 funds each year. As most of our funding sources are from donations, these donations vary and are unpredictable. We are grateful for the commitment.
• The funds from the HGCC Foundation will be used in to key areas of our service delivery:
o 1. Food for Daily Meal Program (Breakfast & Lunch): a portion of the funds will be allocated to our kitchen, for food supplies for our daily meal program
o 2. Housing – Apartment Renovations: a portion of the funds will be allocated to expanding our supportive housing units. As we acquire more rental units to provide longterm, stable housing, we need to renovate the units that are in older buildings on King Street, across from St. Patrick Church on King Street East. To prepare the affordable rental units for people, we need to invest in upgrades, such as plumbing, electrical/heating upgrades, appliances, as well as paint and renovation materials.
While we have much of the labour donated from our parish community, we do have to pay for supplies.
• Our biggest challenge in 2024 is to keep up with the numbers and the increasing need for help.
• As of mid-December 2023, we had served over 150,000 meals in 2023 and we expect that number to be over 160,000 by the end of 2023. This represents a 20% increase in the number of meals served compared to 2022, just a year ago.

We are so excited to be a part of this outstanding event, that will help us change the lives of local families by providing safe, quality, affordable housing. Your multi-year commitment to supporting our mission is nothing short of inspiring. We are truly honored to be recipients of this generous funding over the next three years. Your philanthropy will make a significant impact on our ability to deliver more affordable housing solutions to those in need within our community.

This partnership will have a significant effect on our organization. The financial support from the HGCC Foundation will enhance our capacity to complete the housing projects we currently working on, and to take on new projects as well.
We are currently building 17 houses, as we endeavour to do everything we can to provide stability and security for families in our community. With so many large-scale projects currently under development, community support such as this is nothing short of essential.
The funds will be allocated toward our various home build projects, covering construction costs, materials, and other associated expenses. By directing these resources to our housing initiatives, we can amplify our efforts in creating safe and affordable homes for families who are facing housing challenges.
